The Dems interestingly also face a backlash against incumbency--Liberman being an example. Polarization has migrated from the external politics of GOP versus Dem to the internal politics of the party=--the DNC has something to fear from their own base--look at their waffling over Lamont, and their shameful pole-axing of Paul Hackett. Much as I'd like to see the Dems play as aggressively as the Repubs have done, I don't think they'll exploit an advantage to the same degree. Therefore as Betmo says they won't throw stones because they'll just be grateful at having regained some influence (and not power as the GOP saw it).

There still could be some "independent investigations" called but like all the others at best only minor heads will roll.
The mess created by the GOP is so large and far reaching the Dem's, should they regain control will have to balance pragmatism with retribution. IMHO they'' go with fixing the mess, but frankly they'd be stupid to not demand some significant accountability along the way. That will depend on the ratio of incumbents and new blood in the Dem party come November 3.5th Estatehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14918749316906295703noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-15986597.post-1156458025884542622006-08-24T18:20:00.000-04:002006-08-24T18:20:00.000-04:00You mentioned that 50% of eligible voters don't vo...You mentioned that 50% of eligible voters don't vote. Do you think that might change given the current climate? Gawd I don't get not voting. I would think that many of those potential voters don't want to wade into the 'absolute' politics of things, but if their lives are actually worse...

For the record, the apologists for our current neo-con government up here, are starting their 'swift-boat' attacks. You would think, looking at Bush's record, that they would realise, that's just a ridiculous road to walk down. Apparently not.

betmo, just curious, in what respect do you consider the Dem's to be living in a glass house? Or, more specifically I guess, which dem's?Karenhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04291881352139075405noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-15986597.post-1156430214670213982006-08-24T10:36:00.000-04:002006-08-24T10:36:00.000-04:00they can't 'adapt or die' because that would be to...they can't 'adapt or die' because that would be too obvious. pandering is beneath those who don't look at polls(remember that gem?) they will lose the mid terms- and if they don't then yes, there would be voting fraud. i could go on and on on this topic- but i won't :) the only thing i am unsure of at this point are the criminal charges if the dems take over. i doubt that any will come. quite simply- those who live in glass houses won't throw stones and the dems are politicians first and foremost.billiehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16206096509976316141noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-15986597.post-1156412382264321752006-08-24T05:39:00.000-04:002006-08-24T05:39:00.000-04:00We fear more years of this wastrel bunch of slacke...We fear more years of this wastrel bunch of slackers that wouldn't know integrity if it jumped up and bit them on their collective fat asses.sumohttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03668836906276970398noreply@blogger.com
